On Saturday, January 25, about 50 West Middle School Students gathered at Monroe Middle School to perform as soloists or ensemble members for MSVMA District 12 Solo and Ensemble Festival.  Each soloist or group performed 2 songs from approved collections of folk, art, foreign language, or spiritual songs.  Soloists were accompanied by Tracey King or Mr. Martin playing piano.  The Cardinal Singers split into two groups, and each performed an a capella English madrigal, and an another capella song in Latin.  Each group was rated on a 30 point scale, and given one of four ratings: IV (poor), III (fair), II (good), or I (excellent).

The results were great!  Both groups of Cardinal Singers scored a II rating, as did soloists Grace Sova and Hayden Pike.  Soloists Joe St. Charles, Jeff Matthews, Cameron Ingersoll, Jesse Baker, Theresa Nnangobya, Autumn Little, McKayla Weisler, Jillian Wozniak, and Brooke Boatman all achieved a I rating.

The West Chorus group was the largest of any school in MSVMA District 12, with over half of the soloists who performed that day coming from West!  Congratulations to all who prepared and performed that day.
