The West Chorus just attended the Michigan Opera Theater Children's Chorus performance of "The Secret World of OG," which featured two West Chorus students, Elizabeth Garcia and Elizabeth Pryer. If you are interested in auditioning to be a part of the MOTCC's 2019-20 season, here's the information you need. Once you have decided to audition, Mr. Martin can help you prepare your audition, and if you are accepted, he will work to find scholarship options to help fund your tuition. Act soon, because preparation is key!
From the MOTCC: Have you ever dreamed of singing in front of an audience? Have you wondered what happens behind the curtains backstage? Are you a young vocalist who would enjoy the opportunity to learn from professional instructors? This incredible experience could happen for you right here at the Detroit Opera House!
The choristers of the Michigan Opera Theatre Children’s Chorus (MOTCC) represent a diverse range of backgrounds and experience, but all share a passion for singing and music. As a member of MOTCC you’ll connect to our “musical family” and make new friends.
We rehearse every Monday night from September to April. MOTCC mounts two major performances each season: A Winter Fantasy, the annual December showcase concert, and a full scale opera in the spring, which is performed solely by the children’s chorus. Frequently, opportunities arise for choristers to perform with the MOT mainstage international singers, directors, and conductors too!
Children between the ages of 8 and 16 who love to sing are invited to audition for the Michigan Opera Theatre Children's Chorus.
Auditions will take place on May 18, May 20, and June 2 at the Detroit Opera House.
