For soloists (you know who you are) and all Cardinal Singers.  See below!

January 17, 2019 • Solo and Ensemble Festival • Final Details
Dear Chorus Parents,
Congratulations to your children!  They have been working hard on their solo literature, and their performance date is almost at hand.  Here are last minute details, schedules, and directions you need.

All singers should have their songs completely memorized when they come to work with their accompanist.

DRESS FOR THE EVENT:
Please dress “up” for the event.  Cardinals, wear your chorus uniform. Solo, wear your uniform or something dressy. If you’re in both, you may remain in your dressy clothes or change, it’s up to you.  I suggest clothes that would be appropriate for attending a wedding: shirt and tie, slacks, dress shoes and socks, blouse and slacks or skirt, or a dress.  Keep your hair out of your face so you can be seen when you sing.  Remember, looking good helps you feel good too!

EVENT SCHEDULE:
Each participant warms up for 15 minutes, then sings and receives comments for 15 minutes.  When you are done, you may leave, see the back for how to find your rating.  All students will receive a certificate, and if you achieve a rating of ‘I’ or ‘II’, you will receive a medal (MR. MARTIN WILL PAY).  A cafeteria will be open for you to purchase food and drinks while you are waiting before or after your performance.

FOOD:
Drinks, snacks, donuts, and pizza (at lunch time) are available for purchase at the site.  If you will need to eat lunch, plan to bring about $5 per meal.

TRAVEL:
There is a school bus going to and from Monroe Middle School, bringing the Cardinal Singers.  Parents are welcome to ride, if they’ve filed a chaperone background check form with the school board.  The bus will leave West at 11:30am, and leave Monroe 4pm, arriving back at West at about 4:45. Mr. Martin will ride the bus both ways, and parents are invited to also come.  Students need to be picked up promptly at 4:45 at West.
The directions to the Monroe Middle School in Monroe are included with this letter.  They begin at West Middle School.  Allow 40 minutes for travel, and plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your performance time.   Mr. Martin will be there from 7:30-4pm.  If you don’t see him right away, it’s because he’s warming up a singer or watching them perform.  Follow your schedule and he’ll catch up with you!

IF YOU’RE DRIVING SEPARATELY ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 30 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR WARM UP TIME!

After this consent is there any way you can put me in alto because I can’t hit the really high notes the sopranos do. It just doesn’t sound quite right.
